Today, Sunday, May 29, 2011, I went to Fanime Convention in downtown SJ, and it was lotsa fun haha.
We arrived at around 8:10 or so, stood in line for about half an hour, and then wandered around.

And saw interesting people:
Like this guy.
Or this one:
We saw this quite decent cosplay of Toshirou Hitsugaya, the 10th captain in Bleach, but I didn’t get the chance to take a photo of him D:
Basically wandered around/explored and then sat down to eat jelly beans because the Dealer’s Room (aka shopping for toys) didn’t open until 10AM and the Art Alleyway (aka shopping for artsy stuff like posters, pictures, buttons) didn’t open until 10:30.
While exploring, we went to this sorta arcade room. There were people playing video/arcade games, sitting at tables, playing board games, playing ninja, etc etc. It was a really big room.
We went to the claw machine. And spent my quarters trying to get a pink Domo ($3 in all). Sighs.
Later when we went back to it, we saw a “Out of Order” sign, and we were like. -_____-
And when we went to it again, we watched the maintenance people fix it, and tried again, one last time, before concluding it was seriously IMPOSSIBLE to get anything (there were only 2 prongs on the claw. seriously.).
If we had gotten it, it would’ve been a good deal…it was mostly sold for $18 in the Dealer’s Room except for one booth where it was $12.
While we were sitting down and eating jelly beans, this girl came up to us cuz she was selling pokemon cards to pay for gas money (she was $40 short or something and Sean was wearing Jennifer’s handmade pikachu hat). She was pretty cool, imo. Very brave. Shoulda gotten a picture of her. ><
The Dealer’s Room was…fun, I suppose. OH I saw this booth with like a hellaa pretty pocket watch ($35), but when I went to that booth again, it was gone. ><” Ah well, not like I was gonna buy it.
I mostly shopped with Sean, who was trying to find a soft Pikachu stuffed animal, but they were all $25, basically the same one, and not that soft, so we both rejected it. We didd find this hella cute, soft white hamster along with a golden one and a gray one (all $13 each), but when we went back to it, the white one was sold.
Around 11 or noon or something, we finally finished and went to the Artist Alleyway, which was pretty cool. :D It was mostly posters, smaller pictures, commisions, buttons/pins, and some other minor homemade stuff.
And I realized that…there are so many people good at drawing…I seriously cannot compare. I sigh.
BUT I FOUND YUUMEI which is majorly cool cuz she’s a seriously hella great artist. SOOO skilled asdkfa;sldkjf. Like…she drew these BEAUTIFUL original comics, 1000 Words and Knite. And they have beautiful art and stuff, but they’re not just pretty; they’re also really moving and emotional. SO GO READ THEM.
I bought “Between Today and Tomorrow” which is a beautiful poster of Knite.
It was only $7 too which is hellaa good for a poster of this size. :D
The other Knite poster she was selling was “Knite Bringer of Stars:”
I was actually thinking of buying this one ^ first, but then it was like…I really loved the lighting of the first one and how it showed their friendship, which feels really important to me right now cuz I’m happy. The second one was beautiful in its own way; I especially love the smog on the left side and the stars/building lights of the right side, but it’s so lonely. I also feel like Sen doesn’t stand out quite enough to be the centerpiece.
SO YEAH. I know probably hardly anyone’s reading this or cares about my reasoning, but I really do want to explain it. :D
I ALSO bought THIS (X Kamui Collaboration) the second time we went around the Artist Alley, after lunch, I believe:
which is drawn by ProdigyBombay (also on dA). I don’t think she had a booth though; this was the only one by her. When I saw this poster I was like WTF why is this way obviously the best poster being sold in this booth and why is it so familiar? I DON’T UNDERSTAND.
The larger one was being sold for $13 and the smaller one for $8, but then Jennifer decided to buy this beautifull art book with collected art from several artists for 25 and it came with a free small print so I gave her $5 for this yayyy<3.
She also got a bunny wallet, a Kon hat, and two pins, one with Pikachu and one with Cyndaquil. Something like that. Rebecca also got two pins, but of people idk. She also got some keychain/figurine thing? IDK haha.
And Sean got 3 pins, two of which Jennifer paid for and one of which I did.

For lunch, we were going to go to the Maid Cafe, after the first time we finished our round of the Artist Alleyway at around 12:30PM or so. I was soo hungry; I didn’t eat breakfast so all I had had were some of Jennifer’s mini Oreos and Rebecca’s Jelly Belly jellybeans. xD
But then we realized that the maids weren’t as attractive as we would have liked PLUS it was…not that cheap, so we left the Convention Center premises. We later decided on Smile Sushi, and shared two bentos with two people each and then two plates of California Roll sushi.
Rebecca can’t eat avocado. D: Which is terrible, imo. But it did mean that I got to eat her unwanted avocado hehe. I love the Japanese ginger thing they give out with sushi.
We walked back to the Convention Center while messing around and taking photos. :D

I do believe that I watched them throw pennies into the fountain. xD
And I love this photo:

Then, we went on the second round of the going through the Dealer’s Room and the Artist Alleyway.
As we were ending the end of Round 2 of the Artist Alleyway, Jennifer had to leave cuz she was going at 4:30. D:
Right after she left, we saw Kakashi Hatake:

Naturally, Sean and I make her ask him what book he’s reading. To which he replies that it is a top secret. xD
We went to this BL Cafe thing, thinking that there would be actual “butlers” instead of maids who would serve us food, but instead, it was some seminar thing ABOUT butler cafes.
So we left to find dinner. :D We tried to find this Pho place, but realized that it was on the other side of the street or something. However, we were right next to Keaton’s restaurant or something, so we decided to visit there. We saw Wendy there, who knocked the breath out of me, and we talked for a bit.
However, we were hungry, so we soon left and eventually stopped at…Quickleys~!, having planned to go to the Togo’s across the sidewalk/plaza/thing to eat.
I got peppermint pearl milk tea, but they were out of large pearls. >;O But ‘cuz it was after 5 (like 7PMish), I could get a free tapioca, which I gave to Sean/Rebecca.
And then we walk across the plaza thing to the Togo’s…to find out that it closed at 7. So we walk to the Johnny Rockets and eat there.
We had 3 people, but they gave us two cups of water. We ordered 3 burgers, but they only gave us 2. And despite the fact they only gave us 2 cups of water, they gave us 4 napkins and 4 straws. Even the receipt said we had 4 people.
At least they charged us for 2 burgers -.-
So I didn’t eat one, but that’s cuz I wasn’t hungry more than because they didn’t give me the one I ordered, having consumed my pearl milk tea. I did eat a lot of their fries dipped in ranch. Still kinda annoyed me.
Then we went back and were soon picked up by my parents around 8:30PM. We played Contact 123, which was really fun. :D
Got home shortly after 9, I think.
It was a really pretty good day. <3
EVEN THOUGH I SPENT HELLA MONEY. OMG. $35 (admission) + $10 (lunch) + $3 (claw machine) + $7 (Knite poster) + $5 (small poster) + $1.5 (Sean’s pin) + $20 (Sean + Rebecca’s dinner). Something like that. Sighs.
3. A Three Pictures That Makes You Smile
1. Santana Row, 11/12/10
Uhm, supported my then delusional idea that Sean probably still liked me. I still dunno if it’s a good thing that I pursued that delusion lol.
I remember it made me blush when I first saw that picture ‘cuz I didn’t realize we’d been standing so close haha.
2. Santana Row, 11/12/10
HAHAHA REBECCA. LMFAO. :D WHAT A DIVA. <3 LOL.
3. PHS, 3/17/11
Sean in my skinny jeans hehehe. ;]
Seriously, if you read this, you should allow your mother to buy you new jeans. Skinny jeans sound attractive. :P
Evelyn gave me a calendar for my birthday. Except I cxouldn’t tell it was a calendar because it was tightly rolled up in a plastic sleeve.
Me: Can you tell me what it is so I don’t have to roll it back up?
Evelyn: It’s a porn magazine
Me: o_o
Evelyn: Open it.
Me: /unfurls….:D THANK YOU EVELYN
YEEEEE ULQUIORRA♥.
I’m glad you liked it. :D
NOW, to repay me, take AP English. ;D
Haha.
Well today was a tiring day~
‘Cuz I slept at 5AM to finish my John Irving quote journal for Hotel New Hampshire.
MHM English was actually better than usual. Calc was the usual omg-math-I-can’t-do and fun messing around. Lunch was…nice? haha. Bio = nap time. Badminton conditioning was…pretty easy, but it got so hot, and I kept on getting cramps while running. -.-‘
Then hanging out, going to Taco Bell, etc etc.
The PSAT meeting was fun. :D Because I spent the 2 hours playing hang man and MASH. ><”
Yes, Rebecca, I know that I fail at hangman.
Ooohh MASH was funny. Because, apparently, Rebecca graduated from a schooling at Track, and then married Evelyn. She had 9 children, 6 girls and 3 boys, and a vampire bunny named…Greg (?) [EDIT:] David . More funnily (funny-ly?), her occupation was looking up my skirt LOL.
The printer ran out of ink as the paper dragon was being printed out. So the dragon is white, unlike the rest of it’s species, which are blue. It has been ostracized by the pack and has decided to find a home where it will be accepted. Unfortunately, on it’s way there, it was swatted by an unknowing AP Calculus student. Fortunately, it was not badly damaged.
The dragon has made it safely home and now lives next to the computer monitor, watching this minion’s master do homework.
cute :D
good job minion ;D
